  4. DESCRIPTION
  5.  
  6.    Seascape (TM) is a screen saver which displays relatively realistic
  7.    fish (blue majors) and little animals (microdes) on which they
  8.    feed.  System requirements:  Seascape must be run on Microsoft
  9.    Windows 3.1 (or later); the recommended minimum hardware
  10.    configuration is a 386 with 4 Mb of RAM.

  13. SEASCAPE LICENSE AGREEMENT
  14.  
  15.    This software product is copyrighted, and all rights are reserved
  16.    by the author and publisher.
  17.  
  18.    Installation and use of Seascape requires that you agree to the
  19.    following conditions:
  20.  
  21.      Trying out Seascape is free, but for continued use registration
  22.      is required.  Registration of a single copy of Seascape permits
  23.      you to use it on a single computer, except that if you use one PC
  24.      at work and another at home, or both a desktop PC and a portable
  25.      PC, you may use Seascape on both with a single registration.
  26.  
  27.      You are invited to make unregistered copies of Seascape for your
  28.      friends.  All copies must contain the unaltered complete set of
  29.      files generated by selecting "Make a Copy" as described below
  30.      (or, if you prefer, by using "diskcopy" to duplicate your
  31.      unaltered installation disk).

  33.      Commercial users of Seascape must register and pay for their
  34.      copies of Seascape within 90 days of first use or their license
  35.      is withdrawn.  Site License arrangements may be made by con-
  36.      tacting Advanced Computer Tektonics.

  39.      ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED.  DUE TO THE

  55. REGISTRATION

  57.    For continued use of Seascape, registration is required.

  59.    Your registration fee will help finance improvement of Seascape,
  60.    and as a registered user you will be entitled to a $10 discount
  61.    on registration of our next major release.

  63.    When you're ready to register (or if you just want more
  64.    details), select "Register..." in Seascape's Setup dialog box.

  70. HOW TO MAKE AN UNREGISTERED COPY OF SEASCPE
  71.  
  72.    1.  Insert a blank formatted diskette in a suitable drive.
  73.  
  74.    2.  Select "Make a Copy" in the Seascape Setup dialog.  (To get
  75.        to the Seascape Setup dialog, open the Control Panel from
  76.        Main in Program Manager, double click on Desktop, make sure
  77.        Seascape is shown the name of your current Screen Saver,
  78.        and click on Setup.)

  80.    3.  When production of the copy is complete, please put on the
  81.        diskette a label that says:

  86.                In the Windows 3.1 Program Manager:
  87.                1. Select "File".
  88.                2. Select "Run".
  89.                3. Type "A:SeaNstal" (or "B:SeaNstal")
  90.                4. Insert diskette in drive A (or B).
  91.                5. Select "OK".

  94.                choosing whether to proceed with installation.

  98. USING SEASCAPE
  99.  
  100.    Since Seascape is integrated with the Microsoft Screen Saver
  101.    utility, it is accessed by activating the Control Panel (from
  102.    the Program Manager's "Main" window), choosing "Desktop" to
  103.    open the Desktop dialog box, and then selecting "Seascape" on
  104.    the Screen Saver Name list.
  105.  
  106.    Note that from the Control Panel you can also access Seascape
  107.    and other screen saver controls by selecting "Settings" and
  108.    then selecting "Screen Saver...".  (Depending on your
  109.    configuration, you may also be able to directly choose a
  110.    "Screen Saver" icon in your Control Panel.)
  111.  
  112.    Features such as changing the Delay (between the end of user
  113.    activity and start-up of the screen saver) and setting a
  114.    password are precisely the same for Seascape as for Microsoft-
  115.    supplied screen savers.  To set the Delay, click on the little
  116.    up and down triangles to the right of "Delay:" in the Desktop
  117.    dialog box.  To try out the currently selected screen saver,
  118.    click on the "Test" button in the Desktop dialog box.

  120.    Additional Seascape options, including password setting, are
  121.    accessed by clicking on "Setup..." in the Desktop dialog box
  122.    (with "Seascape" showing in the Screen Saver Name field).

  125. HOW TO PRINT THIS DOCUMENTATION
  126.  
  127.    This documentation is contained in SEAS_DOC.TXT, located on
  128.    your installation diskette (if you have one) and, following
  129.    installation, in the SEASCAPE subdirectory of your Windows
  130.    startup directory (typically C:\WINDOWS\SEASCAPE).  Should
  131.    you want a hard copy, it can easily be printed with Notepad.

  161.    a 5.25" diskette.

  167. INSTALLATION
  168.  
  169.    1. From the Windows 3.1 (or later) program manager menu bar
  170.       select "File". 
  171.  
  172.    2. Select "Run...".
  173.  
  174.    3. If you're installing from a diskette, insert your Seascape
  175.       diskette into drive A or B.  Then enter A:SeaNstal in the
  176.       Command Line field (or B:SeaNstal if you're using drive B)
  177.       and select OK.
  178.  
  179.       If you're installing after downloading Seascape to your hard
  180.       disk, you have probably already extracted files, e.g. with
  181.       PKUNZIP SEASCAPE.ZIP; if not, do so.  Then enter
  182.       <PATH>SeaNstal in the Command Line field, where <PATH> is
  183.       the path of the directory containing your Seascape files
  184.       (for instance, C:\INBOX\SEASCAPE\SeaNstal if they're in
  185.       C:\INBOX\SEASCAPE), and select OK.

  187.    4. Enter your first and last names in the space provided
  188.       (first name first) and select OK.
  189.  
  190.    5. When asked to confirm that you want to install Seascape
  191.       in your Windows startup directory, select OK.  (Since this
  192.       is the directory in which the Control Panel's Screen Saver
  193.       utility searches for screen savers, it's the only
  194.       correct place to install Seascape.)

  197. UNINSTALLATION
  198.  
  199.    Should you wish to remove Seascape from your computer,
  200.    go to your windows startup directory (typically C:\WINDOWS)
  201.    and issue the following commands.
  202.  
  203.       del sscscape.scr
  204.       del seascape\*.*
  205.       rmdir seascape
  206.    
  207.   If you wish, then delete the "[ScreenSaver.Seascape]" section
  208.   in control.ini (in your windows startup directory, typically
  209.   C:\WINDOWS).  (This section stores about 65 bytes of
  210.   configuration data, such as your prefered number of fish.)

  213. SUPPORT AND REFUND POLICY

  216. users for a minimum of six months from the date of registration.

  237. SHAREWARE DISTRIBUTOR AND BBS INFORMATION
  238.  
  239.      Copies of Seascape provided by a shareware distributor
  240.      or made available on a BBS must include all Seascape
  241.      files without any alteration.  Compressing the files
  242.      into a single distributable file with a utility such as
  243.      PKZIP or LHA does not count as alteration.  When such
  244.      archiving is done, the distributed file should have a
  245.      name which makes it readily recognizable as Seascape,
  246.      such as SEASCAPE.ZIP.
  247.  
  248.      Anyone distributing Seascape for any kind of remuneration
  249.      must contact Advanced Computer Tektonics at the address
  250.      above for authorization, and except for distributors who
  251.      are members of the Association of Shareware Professionals,
  252.      this authorization must be granted in advance of any such
  253.      distribution.  Authorization to distribute Seascape will be
  254.      automatically granted to distributors recognized by the
  255.      Association of Shareware Professionals as adhering to its
  256.      guidelines for shareware distributors, and such distributors
  257.      may begin offering Seascape immediately (however, Advanced
  258.      Computer Tektonics must still be advised so that the
  259.      distributor can be kept up to date with the latest version
  260.      of Seascape).  The fee charged by a distributor
  261.      for providing a copy of Seascape may not exceed $10.00.

  284. Depending on how you obtained Seascape, you will have
  285. either seascape.exe or the compressed version of it,
  286. seascape.ex_.  If you have the compressed version,
  287. it will be expanded automatically during installation.
